Bio

My name is Jordi Shevlin. I am a performer, singer/ songwriter and future music producer. Music is all i do and all i could ever imagine doing.

I enjoy solo work and have performed solo gigs time and time again in restaurants, pubs and, how almost every artist begins their musical career, down on the streets. My countless bands show my enthusiasm for different sounds and genres, as I enjoy experimenting with new sounds and new people. Currently, my two main bands are 39 Steps; a funk/ jazzy band, and Harrison tweed; folk rock band.

Right now both are in the album developing process, but Harrison Tweed have two albums already- Harrison Tweed’s demos 1 &2. Recently I’ve been experimenting with acoustic and electric bluesy styles work in a 2 piece called Cursing Luck, consisting of two guitarists (so far). I’m excited about us because we work extremely well together, i feel musically we are alike, and we have similar skill and influences; so we’re on the same page. We both love the genre of blues and adore improvised blues guitar riffs. In general, we both share the same sights in what we want the band to achieve.

My education has been orientated around music also. I left school to study music BTEC national diploma at the local college, as I knew A levels weren’t for me. I know my calling in life is more of a creative and natural nature, not the restricting and specific way A level subjects are studied. At the moment I’m in the second year of a HND studying music technology.

Through these courses I’ve been taught how to develop as an musician. I’ve learnt skills such as recording studio work, composing, song analysing, music performance and music production. As a result i’ve been encouraged to analyse songs, by trying to hear techniques eg panning, compression, stereo feel, even down to potential mics and mic techniques, down to reverb delay, i’ve learnt how to appreciate them and how they would create clarity to tone of music and make you appreciate the work put into the song. I then go onto research their song ,find techniques, enjoy feel of technique and use in future, i recreate sounds and use them as guide and make your own, move it about to see what suits you, boosts creativity, exposed how to train ear, always learning how achieve your wanted sound.
